Zeta Amaltea leads a R&D project called Urban Hydrogeology whose objective is: "Improve efficiency in water and underground resources management, minimizing its effects and fostering environmental values of linked ecosystems" and that is promoted in the frame of ZINNAE (Cluster for efficient use of water).

Agustín Blas, project manager, was interviewed by europapress.es and explained the main contributions of the project whose goal is: "use knowledge and technology to make the most of what Nature offers freely".
The urban hydrogeology integral management system will develop a three-dimensional model of the interaction between the city and the underground that will allow "intelligent and efficient management of fluvial aquifer of Zaragoza, supporting decision process, planning, projects and measures".

Several entities from Aragón take part in this project: iData, ESHYG, GeoSLab, Contazara, Libelium, Instituto Geológico Minero de España, Ayuntamiento de Zaragoza, Universidad de Zaragoza, Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro y Escuela Universitaria Politécnica de La Almunia.
The project is so far in a first stage of analysis and design whose aim is to elaborate a complete and accurate diagnosis of situation and share experiences with other similar cities. The objective is look for European funding (7th FP) for next phases.
